Clabber Girl Partners with Racing For Kids® to sponsor “Cookies for Kids” – an Indy 500 Fundraising Project

Indianapolis – May 10, 2008 – Clabber Girl, the nation’s leading manufacturer of baking powder, and Racing For Kids, a national charity which draws on the popularity of motorsports to bring attention and funding to the health care needs of children, are joining forces with a special project, “Cookies for Kids.”

During the month of May, Clabber Girl will operate a cookie trailer at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway whenever the track is open.  For each cookie sold the company will donate $.25 to Racing For Kids.

“We are pleased to team up with Racing For Kids,” said Gary Morris Clabber Girl President and COO.  “Racing has been a part of the Clabber Girl heritage and tradition for decades, joining forces with Racing For Kids just seemed like a natural fit.”

Racing For Kids, founded in Detroit in 1989, is a unique national charity which supports children when they are most vulnerable – sick and hospitalized.  The heart of the program are the hospital visits that Racing For Kids racers make to sick children in cities where they race.  During these visits, the drivers meet with the children individually, talk about their passion for racing, pose for pictures and generally brighten the spirits of the children they meet.  Oftentimes the Racing For Kids showcar will also make a pit stop at the hospital so the children can get the feel of an authentic racecar.

Clabber Girl’s Fundraising Division, Coast to Coast, will continue to work with Racing For Kids throughout the year to help coordinate fundraising efforts through the sales of their cookie mixes.

“Our mixes are produced in a peanut free facility, the only one of its kind in the United States,” says Morris.  “This is a feature we have found to be very beneficial when working with organizations that benefit children.”

"Clabber Girl is such a well recognized brand with terrific products," said Racing For Kids' Executive Director J. Patrick Wright.   "It is great to know that hospitalized children in Indianapolis, Indiana and around the country are going to benefit from that popularity."

Racing For Kids representatives have visited more than 18,000 young patients in over 380 hospitals in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Japan and Australia.  In addition, nearly $5 million has been raised through donations and specific fundraising events for children’s hospitals across the country.

Clabber Girl was founded by Herman Hulman in Terre Haute, IN, in 1850.   His grandson, Tony Jr., purchased the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 1945.  The company that is known as the nation’s leading producer of baking powder has expanded its product offerings creating a strong presence in retail, food service, industrial and fundraising markets.  Today, Clabber Girl is more than just baking powder, it is a leader in the food industry.

Major sponsors for Racing For Kidsâ include sanofi-aventis, Humana, Inc., Bridgestone Firestone Trust Fund, Toyota Motor Sales USA, TranSystems, Bachrach Men’s Collection and Benson Ford, Jr.
