Justin Wilson and Charlie Kimball Visit Young Patients at Children's Hospital of Alabama

BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA, April 8, 2010 – IZOD IndyCar® Series driver Justin Wilson and Indy Lights driver Charlie Kimball met with as many as 100 young patients today at Children’s Hospital of Alabama, during a special Racing For Kids visit to the medical facility.  Accompanying Wilson and Kimball was Dr. William Pinsky, founder of the Detroit-based charity.

The drivers spent time with the ambulatory patients outside the hospital posing with them at the Racing For Kids showcar and demonstrating what it’s like to drive an authentic racecar.  Afterwards the drivers made bedside visits and handed out Racing For Kids baseball caps, hero cards and coloring books.

The drivers are in Birmingham for the Indy Grand Prix of Alabama, which will be held Sunday at Barber Motorsports Park.  Wilson, who drives the #22 car for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing, came in second in the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on March 28 and is in second place in the IZOD IndyCar Series Championship.  Kimball, who drives for AFS Racing/Andretti  Autosport, is the only driver in the Indy Racing League with type 1 diabetes.  During races he monitors his blood sugar through a special device on his steering wheel.
