Racing For Kids' Justin Wilson Takes Toronto Pole With Record Lap Time
Toronto, ON- IZOD IndyCar Series star Justin Wilson dominated the Firestone Fast Six qualifyng on Saturday with a blistering course record lap time of 1 minute .2710 seconds to take the Pole Position for Sunday’s Honda Indy Toronto race.
Wilson’s performance in his #22 Z-Line Honda racecar secured the second pole in the history of Dreyer and Reinbold Racing. The first pole was won for the team by Sarah Fisher at Kentucky Speedway in 2002.
With two second place finishes this year, Wilson looks to carry his qualifying speed supremacy into Sunday’s race in quest of his first win of the 2010 IZOD IndyCar Series season.
In addition to focusing on his race strategy and preparation, Wilson made time on Friday to visit with some patients from Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children. The patients and their families were at the track as guests of Racing For Kids to watch practice, tour the paddock and garages, and enjoy a Canterplate Catering lunch as part of the event sponsored by Honda Indy Toronto. Wilson, who was joined by 2009 Firestone Indy Lights Champion JR Hildebrand, signed autographs, posed for photos and fielded questions about racing.
