Young patients of Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and their siblings enjoyed a two-hour visit from IZOD IndyCar’s gifted rookie Ana “Bia” Beatriz. The morning began with Bia spending time with her new fans as they checked out the “Dads Root Beer” show car. Besides showing them around the car she autographed their Racing For Kids caps, posed for numerous pictures and told them about her life as the pilot of the #24 Dreyer & Reinbold Racing Ipiranga IndyCar.
Assisting Bia with the visit was Brian Mehrstedt, Territory Manager for UMP and Eric Krupka, CEO of EHK Motorsports. Brian handed out UMP’s popular IZOD IndyCar calendars. Eric made sure each child had a colorful red or yellow RFK baseball car.
Moving on from the show car, Bia and the group entered the hospital to visit some patients that couldn’t make it to the show car. While inside Bia visited with one of Racing For Kids longtime friends, Nic Volker. During the 2009 visit, dressed as Batman and riding around the halls of the hospital on his three-wheeled “batmobile,” Nic met RFK racer Mike Conway, now driving for Andretti Autosports. A photo of Nic and Mike was prominently featured on Racing For Kids’ website and other publicity material.
After meeting with Nic and several other enthusiastic new fans inside the hospital Bia departed for the track to prepare for Sunday’s Milwaukee 225.
